How do you become a gardener at an iconic Scottish house?

Assistant gardener Todd has the best office at Abbotsford - and can tell you how

For Todd, it all started with a horticulture course, a love of the outdoors, and an apprenticeship that turned out to be a great decision.

After studying horticulture for a year, Todd joined Abbotsford as an apprentice.

Eight years later, he’s still there, now an Assistant Gardener caring for the landscapes once walked by Sir Walter Scott himself.

This is the story of how a young gardener found his place in one of Scotland’s most enchanting historic estates.
