From Behind the Lens to Hitting Bullseyes

Alnwick Castle is one of the jewels of Northumberland. One of the main locations for the Harry Potter franchise, Alnwick’s starring role in films makes it a hotspot for set-jetters, keen to visit the real life locations of their favourite films and TV series.

Callum Wood spent years working behind the camera – and now he spends his time guiding visitors round the castle and explaining its role as one of the key locations in a variety of blockbuster movies.

Callum’s career journey

• Callum worked in the film industry before Covid: but the lockdown forced him to move back home to Alnwick, and work dried up.
• A friend put him in touch with the team at Alnwick, and he now has multiple roles at the castle – from film tour guide to wizard, no two days are the same.
• His favourite thing? Seeing the smiles on the faces of visitors as they learn to fly a broomstick!
